Minister stresses journalist role on SDGs implementation

Luanda - The Minister of Economy and Planning, Sérgio Santos Friday in Luanda said that the role of journalists in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Angola was fundamental.

Speaking at the opening of a webinar for journalists, on SDGs, Sérgio Santos noted that the Government's position was one of partnership so that all interested parties could be involved.

According to the minister, the country is rescuing the space of the investigative journalist, who monitors and implements the spaces, having the responsibility to measure progress in achieving these goals.

Journalists must continue in the effort to communicate to all, the advantage of a global agenda for the development of all countries in the world, which Angola has also joined.

He said it is necessary to criticise, to indicate ways and strategies to accelerate existing actions.

The minister said that by the end of this year he would have to prepare a report on the progress made by the country.

Sérgio Santos noted that it was necessary to continue working to support young people and women, as the empowerment of women could create a series of dividends for society.
