The project, announced on 22 May by the minister of Energy and Water , João Baptista Borges, also includes the construction of several support infrastructures, particularly medium and low voltage distribution networks, including household connections.

This project, to be inaugurated next Wednesday (16 September), is part of government programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of Angolan families and represents fulfilment of another of the Angolan Government's promises, announced in Quibala, Kwanza Sul province, on 11 November 2019, in the central act that marked the date of the proclamation of national independence.

According to a press release from the Ministry for Energy and Water, which was made available to Angop Sunday, all of that action was carried out using reused material provided by ENDE, RNT and PRODEL and took place in this rather complex phase of the Covid-19 pandemic that is also ravaging the country.

The work has thus come to an end, allowing regular electricity to reach the homes of thousands of inhabitants of this locality, including agricultural and livestock units.

The project also includes the extension of the electricity grid to farms, a process which is underway in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, namely the construction of medium-voltage lines about 75 km long, which aims at the sustainable development of agriculture, taking advantage of the existing availability of water-producing energy from the national electricity grid.
