The largest corn meal manufacturing industry of Huíla province spent AKz 500 million in 2019 to refit the machine, which remained dormant for five years due to the outdated equipment.

Its capacity stands at more than 70,000 bags of 25 kg per day.

In addition to Huila, the product is sold in the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Benguela, Huambo, Cuanza Sul, Namibe and Luanda.

Ramiro Maya told Angop that contacts are in progress with the wholesalers and retailers of the province to ensure the sale of product.

He also blamed cordon sanitaire in Luanda, due to the covid-19, for some constraints in the trading of product.

The company plans to invest AKz 900 million until the end of the year in acquisition of corn, he said, adding that everything will depend on the sale of the product in stock.

Created in 1960s, the New Cimor has been operating under private management since 2000.
