Covid-19: No positive case in 24 hours

Luanda - Angola?s 45 positive cases of covid-19 remain unchanged in the last 24 hours, the secretary of State for Public Health said.

Franco Mufinda stated that there are currently in the country 45 infections, two deaths, 13 recoveries and 30 active patients in stable condition.

The official who was speaking at the usual covid-19 update briefing also said the country remains with its 18 cases of local transmission of the new coronavirus.

There are also in the country 906 people in institutional quarantine, 21 of whom in northern Cuanza Norte province, 16 in central Huambo, and 195 in the capital Luanda, including 233 releases.

He said as well 5.704 tests have been conducted, resulting in 45 infections, 354 negative cases and 305 under processing.

A new 15-day state of emergency period has taken effect as from 00:00 am on Monday, going until May 25 , as part of the measures put in place to contain the expansion of the covid-19 pandemic in the country.

This is the fourth stage of the state of emergency that first became effective on March 27 this year. The last extension went from April 26 to May 10.
