The three-day training event brought together technicians from the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), the National Police and the local municipal hospital, and addressed issues related to primary care, biosecurity rules, handling of patients and corpses of pandemic victims.

The coordinator of the training team, Estevão Bambi, said that as the municipality of Maquela do Zombo shares a long border with the DRC, there is an urgent need for continuous training of technicians to be permanently prepared to respond to possible cases.

The municipality of Maquela do Zombo has a treatment center for people infected with covid-19, installed in one of the blocks of the local municipal hospital, as part of the prevention and combat of the pandemic in the province of Uige.

It also has epidemiological surveillance teams in the border municipalities of Béu and Sacandica.
