Minister says reduction of cholera cases marks year-end

Luanda - The minister of Health, José Van-Dunem, said Monday in Luanda that one of the issues that most marked the year 2014 was the way that was able to stop the problem of cholera nationwide.

Speaking at the year-end greetings ceremony, the official said that during the year about to end, there was 213 cases with three deaths across the country, and in 2006 were recorded about 50,137 cases with 259 deaths.

According to the incumbent minister, this is the result of the effort that the Government has been carrying out to provide more drinking water, better housing and greater opportunity for women to go to schools and are able to benefit from the opportunities that the government makes available.

The Government minister said that this year, was increased access and voluntary HIV testing, prevention of vertical transmission in a meaningful way across the country, and approved the National Health Development Plan and in preparing municipal plans health.
