The mystery of Kwanhama kingdom, monuments, forts, old people and colonial period memorial, are historical places in the province that can take the tourist to a journey in the past.


Mupa National Park

It is locate on the northeast of the province with 6.600 hectare. On April 16, 1938, the park was considered as a hunting reservation. Nowadays, it is only used to preserve species. There are animal like giraffe, hyenas, leopards, gungas, rhino, hyppo, zebras, elephants, ostrich, lions, red palanca, heron, olongo and impala. The park has been closed to public for so many seasons


Ruacaná Dam

Please visit Ruacaná waterfall, if you go to Cunene. It is located nearby Namibia border, Cunene river, at kalueke region. It is really nice to watch 100m water falling down.


(Epupa) Monte Negro (Epupa)  waterfall

Located at kuroca region and not very far from Namibia frontier, the cascades impress everyone who pays a visit to the place


Africa’s biggest baobab tree

The baobab tree is a symbol for Angola. At Péu-Péu region, Ombanja Township, we come across one of the best splendid examples or representation of this tree


Rei Mandume Memorial Complex

It is located in Namacunde, 42km from Ondjiva. This is the place where we can find the grave of the last Kwanyama king. It is open to visit 24/7 and has many other things inside, such as day nursery, restaurant, 300 capacity conference room, 20 bungalow, 10 of them like a castle including bathroom, air condition, satellite TV and water.


Embala Grande

It was the political center of Kwanhama kingdom. 11 kings of the region lived and were buried here. King Mandume was the only one who did not live and was not buried here, because he was circumcised at that time.


Roçada Fort

It is located on the right margin of Cunene River, Ombandja Township. It was military barrack in the past, in order to attack and occupy Xangongo south regions.


Vau-do-Pembe monument

A memory of those fallen Portuguese soldiers, while trying to cross over Cunene river, due to Angolan resistance.


Mufilo Monument

Located on the south of Xangongo Township, this was a place of king Mandume great combats against Portuguese colony, helped by king Tchetekela from Cuamato.
